Why Alumni Matter

The MCC story is written by its graduates

Future students decide whether to invest in a program partly by what they hear from people who already finished it. A strong alumni community gives MCC's programs, career services, and student support real-world proof — and gives graduates a place to keep growing.

Stay connected

Alumni continue to hear from MCC through stories, updates, and community-focused communication that respects your time and inbox.

  • Periodic program and campus updates
  • Community news, awards, and milestones
  • Invitations to alumni-relevant events
  • Opt-in, no-spam communication preferences

Share your journey

Graduate stories help future students understand the human side of programs and outcomes — far more than marketing copy can.

  • Career progress and next steps
  • What worked (and what was hard) in your program
  • Practical advice for new applicants
  • Featured stories in the MCC newsletter

Support future students

An alumni community becomes a source of encouragement, visibility, and real-world perspective for students entering the same path you took.

  • Mentorship and community connection
  • Graduate perspective on career direction
  • Visibility for student success stories
  • Referrals into trusted employer networks
Ways to Stay Involved

Choose the level of involvement that fits your life

Alumni engagement should never feel like another obligation. MCC offers small, medium, and deeper ways for graduates to stay involved — pick what fits your schedule, energy, and stage of career.

Receive the newsletter

Stay in the loop with periodic updates, alumni stories, and community news. No pressure to respond, contribute, or attend — just stay connected.

Be a guest voice

Speak in a class, on a panel, or in a recorded interview about your program experience and what came next. Even a short story can change a student's decision.

Refer talent

If your employer is hiring, refer current students or recent graduates from your program. Career services can help you find the right candidates.

Mentor a student

Sign up to mentor a current MCC student for a defined commitment — often a few conversations across a term. Career services match mentors with mentees in your sector.

Mentorship pathways

Alumni mentorship at MCC is informal, low-pressure, and student-led. Mentees come prepared with a goal — and mentors share the story and perspective they wish someone had shared with them.

  • Short-format mentoring: 2–3 conversations across one term
  • Sector-specific mentoring: esports, hospitality, language, or microcredential pathways
  • Pre-graduation guidance: realistic first roles and how to apply for them
  • Post-graduation guidance: navigating PGWP, work permits, and Canadian workplaces
  • Optional employer-introduction pathway where appropriate

Alumni benefits at a glance

Graduating does not mean losing access. MCC alumni keep practical, ongoing benefits that support the next stages of their career and learning journey.

  • Continued access to career coaching for recent graduates
  • Reference letters and verification support for visa and employer needs
  • Invitations to alumni events and program showcases
  • Priority consideration for additional MCC microcredentials and language programs
  • Lifetime inclusion in MCC's growing alumni community
